Day 10 – Golden Gate to Clarens
Sunday was a rest day with great hosts Johan and Mariaan Potgieter, who invited us to stay in their home on Sunday night. We got treated to sweet cinnamon and sugar, as well as savoury pancakes. It was also great to have our washing washed. Monday morning started early with a visit to a printing shop in Harrismith and the cellC phone shop to upgrade and get a new phone, as mentioned earlier, my previous one died and went to Samsung heaven. Drove to the Golden Gate Park and started the ride from East to West, road in a fairly good condition and lots of animals grazing next to the road, some serious hills had to be conquered, but with absolutely spectacular views of the sandstone formations. A fairly strong headwind added to the rest of the ride to Clarens and after 40km and 02h08m with an average speed of 21,3kph the days ride was done. A friend and ex work colleague met us in Clarens and we spent the night on his farm somewhere between Bethlehem and Clarens. Thank you Mark and Ina for your hospitality, great meal and warm bed.
